Mike,
Don't be confused with the objective of the vent cowls.  They are there to 
provide air to your diesel so be sure they are not blocked or that the light 
weight vent hose is not crushed as it makes its way under the aft berth.

Just a thanks Bruce and Peter for the info. I very rarely use the bilge blower 
but its nice to know what they are there for also if a drop of rain gets in 
before I get them replaced I won't worry too much
