Warren - I installed 3 additional 12v plugs below the VHF. I just
daisy-chained them together as they will only be used to power cell phones.
I also installed another at the Nav Station. - Allan

I will post some photos as soon as I get a chance to get down to the boat.
It is in the process of being commissioned, but I probably stop by more than
I should :)

Jon, I'd be interested in a picture of your nav station. I've been thinking
of adding some 12v plugs in the panels above the nav table. I thought of
providing a bus bar behind with connections for two more 12v plugs (I have
one now.) Having just purchased a laptop I might be interested in some
storage ideas.

Jeff, I have dividers in my nav table that came with the boat. I keep lots
of stuff in there and the dividers keep it organized. I could easily
rearrange things and have a place for my laptop, etc. I'll try to remember
to take a couple of pictures of it.

Jeff,

We've found that that aft cabin cubby is perfect for storing a case of
bottled water. I thought of doing what you suggest, but decided keeping
plastic liquids there was a better use. We also considered making shelves in
the aft locker, but as you mentioned, had a dilemma with our foulies.
BTW, the new boat has a Nav station set up just as you describe--laptop
storage, power, usb, 12v etc coming in through the side in dedicated
chases....I'll take photos if you like...

Thanks Jon.

In any case I'm going to make a wooden pattern for the nav station top while
it's off and so that even if I don't get to it before I launch this spring,
I'll be able to work on it at home and swap it out later. I'd like to
consider making the nav station more technology friendly, like maybe laptop
storage, hidden power/USB charging options, etc. We end up in wiring cord
hell when we're charging phones, laptops, cameras, Nintendos, Ipods, etc...
It would be so nice to have conveniently hidden cords storage with a single
breaker controlling those.

Any ideas or neat solutions people have seen would be cool to hear about.

Jeff,

There are two live aboard carpenters in our marina--both have basically
built out their interiors from scratch. I will give them a call and
ask--they may even have scraps/spares available...will let you know...

Jon

Hello,

Any woodworkers in the New England area have suggestions for where to buy
nice quality Teak Plywood in half sheet sizes?

I'm considering the replacement of my Nav station top since the formica is
not looking so good these days. Also, since I have the Nav station removed
from the boat, I'm installing some nice builtin dividers and possibly a
shallow small tool drawer for the frequently used things like
screwdrivers/pliers/cutters etc.

Where and how do people store tools and stuff on their boat? We've always
kept them in the port cockpit locker, but it's such a pain to access them
there.

-Jeff
