Bruce,
Yes...... A fun day because they keep coming back .... My aunt and
Uncle, their son, wife and three children, high school through Junior
high, and their dog, spend a day with us every summer, in the Apostle
Islands ,of Lake Superior. Last trip we spent the entire day, on a 22
mile sail to Devils Island, where they all were ferried ashore by dingy,
while the wife and my uncle and I stood off shore, circling the island
as they hiked to the light house and visited with the ranger. The wind
built out of the north east, and my shorts and t shirt clad guests,
managed to break out all the sweat shirts, jackets, blankets, and hats
that we had on board. We managed to get back to the marina long after
dark devoid of snacks and sodas. Wife Judy whipped up some creative hot
soup, crackers and sandwiches from canned chicken and tuna. Family
gatherings often include some reference to the days they spend with us
on the water. With all the seating occupied, everyone has a job right
where they sit, and it helps that all are excited to be there, willing
to do what they can to participate. I like the words of Bob Bitchin
.. The only difference between adventure and ordeal is attitude.
