[C320-list] extra part in the fridge

We just bought #948 & when unpacking, noticed a white metal piece that  is 
square; but only has 3 sides & open ends.  about the size of  4  sticks of 
butter...  it was in the refridg; but I have no idea what it is  for??
 
can anyone enlighten me?  thanks,
