[C320-list] Water Pump Repair or Replace Recommendations

My boat has a leak in the sea water pump at the front seal (where the shaft comes out of the pump). The pump does the job, but continuously throws off a little water from the shaft at this point. As I see it, I have three possibilities for repair: 1) replace the seal, impeller, o ring, and gasket – parts maybe $35, 2) completely rebuilt the pump – parts kit $147, 3) replace the pump – $245. I expect to have the yard to do the work, so labor will be at least $90/hr.

I know many of you have rebuilt your pumps and would appreciate your suggestions/recommendations. If I go the route 1) replacing only necessary parts, have I missed any needed parts? Also, with water coming out shaft end, it suggests that it is passing through the bearings and might indicate that they need to be replaced as well? Finally, what would be your estimate of time required by an experienced mechanic to do the repair? The engine has less than 200 hrs. running time.

Thanks.
