I had a similar problem. I removed all the wires from the control head, cleaned them, & reattached. Solved the problem.

ould you be willing to share those settings?  I have owned our 1995 model 
or three years now and it has always done the crazy Ivan's.  I am not sure 
hat I have messed with any of the settings. Does everyone run through the 
etup process every season?

 Mine also started doing that at the beginning of last year.  As it turns 
 out, some of the settings in the setup had changed over the winter.  I 
 contacted a friend and he gave me his settings.  Works perfectly now.

 few years. Swore there was something wrong with the unit. Turned out that 
 the fridge was going on and off more than before and that was affecting 
 the compass. Moved the compass further away (ahead of the water tank) and 
 never had the problem again.
