Warren,

With a flexible shaft coupling you need to run a jumper wire from one side to the other to maintain the bonding...

So, what happens when a flexible shaft coupling is installed? Does it provide a way to maintain the bonding?

Our Yanmars don't have zincs. Many other engines don't either. One problem with zincs is they can crumble and damage the engine water pump. Also if the engine is bonded well to the shaft, these zincs should do the job.

That's my understanding, but there may be different reasons also.

I have noticed some of the Yanmar engine owners talk about engine zincs. I have the older Perkins M30 (Hull #112).
I have looked everywhere on the engine and surrounding area and I haven’t found a zinc.
Any other Perkins owners know if we have one? And if not, why?
