[C320-list] Thru hulls under head sink

I was just lubricating and exercising the thru hulls ........We're still on the hard :>(   

The dual valve thru hull for the shower and the toilet inlet seems to work in both directions. I had assumed that up was open and down was closed. We always use fresh water to flush the toilet, so I'm not sure if I have a valve problem or it really is supposed to operate in three positions.  If the latter which direction closes off both hoses?
