Jeff:

I bought one, and I do store it forward on stanchion mounts. While testing
sail set prior to race start it did catch a jib sheet. It did spring up into
the air and end-over-end into the water where it sank. It then bobbed to the
surface (I suppose due to its light weight and the hollow tubes still
holding some air) and the only member of the crew not wearing a life vest -
without comment or announcement - jumped onto the seat, up on the coaming
and over the lifelines into the water.  

We were accelerating away at the time and had to perform our first crew/pole
recovery. The funny thing was, other boats altered course to avoid him but
no one stopped to offer him aid. I guess they all thought they'd come back
at race end if he still needed help. The gun had gone before we got him into
the boat and he was wet and cold. So we stiffed the race and I bought him
dinner and a beer at the club house.  And with that I still got off REALLY
cheap.
