[C320-list] Black Exhaust smoke

CONCUR about importance of clean prop and shaft.   It happens to me when ever I get a heavy build up of crud on prop  ... clean prop problem goes away..   during the season I have teh bottom and prop cleaned monthly

Concur with checking the prop first. 
 
Same thing happened on my 2GM with my previous C&C. 
 
Couldn't get the rpms over 1600 and really thick black smoke. 
 
$75 bucks (diver) and a clean prop, problem solved.

We are experiencing black exhaust smoke, and a loss of high revs with our 3YM 30 Yamaha motor. 
We have only done about 250 hours, the motor is well maintained, boat is only 4 years. 
Any suggestions of the cause and remedy.
