Subject: [C320-list] Captains License Renewal

I need to renew my captains license (USCG Operator aka 6 pack) and I
don't
have enough required days of sea service. But there is an open book test
that can be taken in place of the sea service. Has anyone taken that
version
of the test? What is it like? Can it be taken at home or do I need to
go to
some testing center? Is there a time limit?

Thanks

 John,

I was in the same situation with my 100 ton Masters License a few years
back. Contact a USCG test center and get the take-home test
materials. You'll pass it without concern. Some questions take some
thought but most are right off the top of your head. Less than an hour
and it's free.

Best regards,
