[C320-list] Refrigerator Cycles

At the top of the fridge there is a "skirt" that surrounds the opening. We cut ours so that it is about an inch larger than that skirt. We slide it across under the center divider and it just stays in place nicely. You can lift it up from either end to get at stuff below.

Another trick we use is to stock the freezer with bottled water. It holds about 6 standing up and a couple on top. When motoring we turn it up to max. When they freeze we put those on the far end to become cold packs and put new ones in the freezer. All this makes it run less at anchor.

So like one of those solar shields for your car in the sun. Do you affix it to the top of the box or just lay it in there. Last year was our first year with the boat. I noticed that the compressor was on for about a minute or two and then off for a minute or two consistently. I thought that was rather fast cycles. The fan is blowing air through the fins by the compressor OK. Is this cycle speed normal? The contents are nicely cold. Also, the sensor is attached directly to the ice box which gets cold first and fast. Is that where it is supposed to be attached? I was thinking of putting a piece of styrofoam between the sensor and ice box to insulate it so it doesn't sense the cold too fast. John Meyers Wind Chime #406 >
