Ours was just wrapped in a blanket with tape around it and was also laying down in the cockpit.

yes, they had ours laying down in cockpit, too.  must be too  high??

That  would be a good question for the trucking co. They did have to remove 
mine  because of the clearance along the route. The boat on a truck (wing 
keel) was  pretty high. They had to stop and measure a few overpasses and 
lines along the  way. Also there were some states that gave them some minor 
trouble over the  weight (the truck had 2 small power boats on it also).
