[C320-list] Non-working fuel gauge C320

My fuel gauge stopped working this year. C320 #617, 1999.

Gauge is "stuck" on E. I ran the diagnostics, gauge spike to F when
shorted. So I'm assuming that the gauge is working-that sending unit is the
problem. I removed the sending unit yesterday; rheostat mechanism was
dirty, crudded-up. I cleaned, checked to see if it would work by rewiring
and manually moving the float up & down. Nothing registered on gauge.

Checked with West Marine and a couple of marine stores in MD area. Found
some "universal-type" sending units. Big problem was the arm that holds the
float was WAY too long-it was suggested that I cut it off and slide the
float on the short piece, maybe bend the end so that the float won't come
off. Didn't seem like the best solution.

Went to Seaward and searched. Didn't find any info on fuel sending unit.
Will try to call them tomorrow.

Any ideas from anyone on where to find a replacement sending unit? It seems
like the best solution is to replace the old with another new one, same
length, size, etc.

Thanks,

Tony Kalish
