On the bilge pump question-if you have a packing gand check to see how much dripping you have at the shaft packing  when in gear. Should only be a drop or two a minute.

You may want to check the prop to see if it is the right size as well as
checking it for marine growth.  Is any smoke coming out of the exhaust?
