[C320-list] Installing stern seat speakers

I think that if you have that much water in the cockpit then the least of
your concerns would be the $50 speakers. Ours have quite a tight rubber seal
and they are advertised as waterproof.( probably not submersible)
One thing I forgot to mention. I have taken the loom right up to the
speaker connections then zip tied it to the speaker fixing screws inside the
locker. My thoughts were that this would protect the speaker wires with the
constant bending back and forth when the locker is opened

We have set the fade on our stereo to about 40% in the cockpit, and have a
remote control for the volume, but if you don`t have a remote control I like
the cockpit volume control.

I agree with the installation of the speakers in the verticle
aft--port/starboard lockers.  Not only does that location allow for "stereo"
separation, but it helps isolate and protect the speakers---marine
environments attack speakers.  the wiring is simple enough and always inside
so as to reduce the errant foot or hand breaking the wire.  OBUOY has had
the speakers there for 18 years and no problems---I also installed a combing
box and use it for a speaker volume control---also out of the weather.  Ken

Ours are done that way as well.  It's all personal choice, but I like them
that way.  You do have to take some care while loading or unloading the
locker, but you could add an interior cover as protection if that worked
for you.

There was another idea that was posted a while back whichy looked
interesting.  The owner, used a deck plate fitting to mount the speaker.
The speaker was flush mounted behind the deck plate.  Installation of the
deck plate made the speaker install water tight when weather was snotty.
