[C320-list] Finish used on the keel prior to bottom paint ?

Rod, as response on this is light, allow me to chime in. I, too, don't know
what the factory used. I believe it is probably the same resin used in the
hull layup. I have used an unfilled epoxy in a number of applications and
found it to be a very effective coating. ("unfilled" in that no fillers
added.) In the older hulls, the salon sole is veneer on plywood. I used
unfilled epoxy on the underside of the plywood and edges to prevent moisture
from infiltrating the wood and damaging the veneer. I would have no problem
using it on the keel under a proper coat of paint, although it should
probably be prepped in some manner to insure adhesion. The epoxy I use is
also West System. They provide a lot of good information on using their
products.

Rod,
I don't know if some one already answered this and I don't know what the
factory did. I like the West System technical advice on this and have
followed with good results on our previous boat.

All,

Is anyone aware of what the lead keel is coated with prior to using the
bottom paint? Thanks.
