Wash them in a net bag. Otherwise they will be tangled. Practical Sailor did a test on washing lines about a year ago.

Subject: [C320-list] Washing Jib sheets

I am going to wash my jib sheets, primarily to take some of the stiffness out, as they are not really very dirty.  Just a few questions about washing.

1)  Should you use a commercial machine or is it ok to use your own machine at home?  (I know you should use a mesh bag.)

2) What water temperature settings for wash and rinse.

3) Should you use detergent and something like Oxy Clean?

4)  What about fabric softener?

5) Should you use a long (15 min) wash cycle, or a short cycle?

Any tips are appreciated, the lines are 8 years old but show no signs of wear so I see no need to replace them.

Thanks,

Jerry Clayton
