If you have access to a table saw...buy a 1/2" x 15" x 30" white HDPE
cutting board from a discount retailer.

By moving the saw guide over in 1/8" increments and making successive
shallow passes, you can use the saw balde to cut a 3/8" D x 1/2" W
dado (groove) down one side of the the board starting 1/8" from the
edge. Then, cut the 3/4" strip containing the groove off of the board
and cut it in half.

This will make the two tracks that you mount vertically on the port
and starbord side of the pass-through to hold the insert in place that
you will cut to fit from the rest of the board. Drill three/four holes
for # 10 oval head SS wood screws through the bottom of each dado and
into the fiberglass to mount them.
