Help me to understand. why is there an issue about mixing coolant colors? my reservoir is empty... not sure why... and I am planning on going up to the boat tomorrow to do some work. I bought the havoline brand (per the yammer tech bulletin). not sure what I will find when I open the cap on top of the engine. ideas? suggestions?

If it is orange-red then it is Dexcool 50/50. I would not recommend using
Prestone.

We uncovered our boat today and I checked on the engine coolant. It's red.
But I have nearly a gallon of Prestone 50/50 on board that is sort of a
yellowish green. It's pre-diluted and says not to add water. It also says it
can be added to any color anti-freeze.
I must have used some of it in the past because the containter's not full.
What say you all?
