If it is where the intake lines enter they are generally made up with Whale
fittings. If so there is no tightening and they do spin freely. There should be
a while outer collar with two ears (this prevents accidental disconnect). To
disconnect you push in on the gray collar that the blue lines go into. They you
can pull the line out (or push it in) of the fitting (turn off tank valves
first). The whale fittings are a little tricky-if you don't get the line seated
all the way in (it will to in farther than you think and you fill feel a slight
click when fully seated) the gray collar will not fully seal and you will get a
leak. The Whale site has a good diagram of the procedure. On my boat there were
at least 3 leaky fittings that took some time to track down.

And the prize goes to JJ Morrison. I filled both tanks and that was enough to
prime
the pump. thanks. but now I have a NEW problem.... which may be related to the
first in which Chris Burti suggested a leak in the line. At the water intake
lines near the pump there is leak. It is at a white elbow joint, 45 degree
angle. The fitting has two female connectors, both of which turn freely. Not
sure how to tighten that fitting. Suggestions? Thanks everyone for the help!

A note on the pump prime...make sure both fwd and aft tanks are full of water
this makes it easier for the pump to obtain a prime. On changing the shifter and

throttle cables... there is a plastic bracket about half way down the
inside/aftside of the binnacle which grabs the cables and keeps them out of the
way of steering gear and other stuff. It is nearly impossible to get the cables
into this bracket with the binnacle stand in place; can be done but you need to
remove the steering chain sprocket to do it! Much easier to remove the four
bolts in the cockpit floor and lay the binnacle on its side which makes the
entire job much easier.

3-5 minutes. If that still does not work you will need to 'pull a prime' by
either using a vacuum pump at one faucet with all other faucets closed, or you
can try sucking on one open faucet with the pump running( similar to stealing
gasoline from the neighborhood cars )---the older boys told me about that.
