Alan, I wrote the Mainsheet article. When we first bought out boat, I too
was in a quandary as to how turn it off. I even called Seaward Who told me
how it works. It takes a bit of effort; but, if you get a good grasp on the
button and pull it out, it will snap out and turn off the windlass.

Subject: [C320-list] Windlass breaker

Hello all. I am trying to rebuild my windlass per the information on the
C320 site and the recent Mainsheet article. My question is how to
de-energize the windlass circuit. The 80 amp windlass breaker does not seem
to have an off/on feature and even turning the battery selector to OFF does
not extinguish the red windlass indicator lamp located next to the breaker.
The breaker appears to be spring loaded in that I can push it in and it
returns 'proud', but this does not affect the power indicator light which
remains on. Does the windlass always stay energized like the bilge pump
even when the battery selector is 'OFF'? I have a 1994 hull 67 if anyone is
can let me know how their set up works would be most appreciated ... hate
to electrocute myself and ruin my day, lol. Alan
