Thanks.  Maybe I didn't do permanent damage.  I noticed evidence of leaks in 
two places, on deck directly below a bolt in overhead of shower (below 
traveler) and at the electrical outlet near hanging locker in aft bunk area. 
The only way that I could see water coming from these two places is if there 
was some spraying action in the area of the anti-syphon loop relief valve. 
This occurred after I was washing out the shower area and ran the sump pump 
to clear some of the water a few weeks ago, and the thing is that I'm not 
sure that I opened the thruhull before running the sump.  If the leaks 
re-appear, then I will know it is something else.  If they don't, then there 
is a good chance that the sump pump over pressured the anti-siphon valve and 
sprayed the water to the locations that I saw.

I have a lot of practice at this having done it at least three times over 
the last 7 years It does built up a lot of pressure (I've wondered it it 
could be used to unclog the hose and or the thru hull but would only try as 
a last resort) but I've had no problem. I did check the anti-siphon valves 
in the head cabinet. Just unscrew the little valve holder on top and take 
out the duckbill valve. You can check if it's still OK by blowing through it 
and the sucking back. There should be no leak with the suction. If OK just 
put it back in with the duck bill down. WM and other stores sell the 
duckbills and it's good to have a couple extra.

If one has run the shower sump pump (just briefly) without opening the 
thruhull,  will there likely be permanent damage to the anti-syphon loop 
relief valve?  And if so, how does one get at it to repair/or check it?  Not 
sure, but I believe I may have mistakenly done this recently. Rats...

You definitely need the through hull head inlet open as this is also the
discharge for the shower and fridge sumps. The `Y` valve only controls which
sump you are emptying.

I tried both ways - inlet open and closed. I will check the relief
valve-perhaps I did some damage there.

Do you have the head inlet open to allow the sump pump to discharge.  If you
don`t something will blow. Probably the relief valve in the anti-syphon loop
behind the head.

The list helped me with a related issue a few years ago involving the shower
/ fridge sump. New issue and I checked the archives so maybe a couple of
questions will get me going.
I am getting power to the pump under the sink ( it vibrates) but am not
getting the shower or fridge to drain. There is a Jabsco "pump guard"
between the Y valve and the pump. Is this the strainer that was mentioned in
the archives? I attempted to remove the front but it wouldn't budge so
didn't want to force  it.
Also there was a suggestion to "clear" the hose to the pump. Would I remove
it to the left of pump? And then what?

Any ideas / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
