[C320-list] BoatUS Insurance

I think the coverage is 500,000, but can't say for sure. We also have an umbrella policy, so we pretty much take the minimum required by the marina since I have ample coverage on the umbrella. I also found out something interesting. On the renewal they had a big note that said "Congratulations, your policy qualifies for vanishing deductibles" or something like that. So what they did is simply lower our deductible automatically to $250, which also contributed to a higher premium. As I understand it, this is their way of making you feel like you earned something for being a loyal customer and at the same time trying to get you to pay a bit more. I changed the deductible back to $500 and that dropped it $40, so they are sending me a new renewal. Don't underestimate what companies do to earn a few extra bucks, it's all their marketing spin. At this point, to try to save another $50 or $75 is not worth the time (which they probably bet on as well, heck if they can afford to own a boat they won't bother for $50. They probably did an analysis on this as well. I feel like a mouse in a lab. :)

There are so many factors in the rate calculations, maybe our short season here in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin enters into it. I am smiling. The previous owner was actually a few cents under $400.
