[C320-list] Dawn Treader FINALLY back in Holland

Ok, I will add to the excitement of this message board since it is a bit quiet right now.

After a LONG eight day trek from San Francisco through Flag Staff, Albuquerque, Amarillo, Memphis and points in between, "Dawn Treader" has made it safely back to Holland, Michigan.  Yeah, a bit of a detour, but due to her size and all the construction on I-80, this was the only routing that worked.

This week she is getting a thorough cleaning, new bottom paint, new lines and sheets, rust clean up and all that.  Plus her wheel and electronics pod get re-attached; it was angled down so she could clear all the bridges - barely!  Next week, when I finally arrive back in Holland myself she will be launched and rigged, woo hoo!

I have to say, even with all the clean up and maintenance done in San Francisco over the last 4 or so years there, the effects of salt water were absolutely brutal on her.  After experiencing salt and fresh water first hand, I prefer fresh water on my baby.  The folks at Anchorage Marine Service were mortified by how salt water changed her.  I know a lot of people sail in salt water.  It is a reality for many and the only choice, but I now I know how salt water effects a boat and its resale value first hand.  A lot of hardware will be replaced along with all the standing rigging this winter.  And she is having engine work done next week (oil change, new filters, new impellers, muffler inspection, etc). She will be made whole, but it won't be cheap.  (Well boats are a money sink, lol).

So some fun fall sailing is on tap, and we might, just might, do the Frostbite race out of Holland if she is ready.  We will be rusty like Dawn Treader, however it will be fun.  Yes, we will get back in the groove next season.

And how many C320s are in the Holland area right now?  It is good to be back home again!
