I can understand that with a polyurethane an anti-skid would be needed. I
used a tung oil product from Waterlox (www.waterlox.com) on our cabin sole
and it has not only held up very well, but is relatively slip-free when
damp. I've been thinking about doing the ladder and will probably use
Waterlox on that too.
I've also heard good things about Ultimate Sole for interior spaces; but,
haven't heard much lately. Also, can't recall seeing them at the last
Annapolis Boat Show.

I added Quikrete Anti-Skid floor texture additive to my clear polyurethane.
The additive turns clear when you mix it into the poly. Stopped slippage on
the companion-way stairs instantly, you feel it but don't see it. Put it on
4
seasons back and it still holding up well. I got the additive a Lowes for
about $5.

Does anyone know what product to use on the companion way stairs? They are
in good shape and only need a rough sand and then a finishing of some kind.
I have a can of the Catalina interior stain. That works very well for
everything inside the boat. I am not sure if its rugged enough for the
stairs.
