i have a much later boat but found that Vaseline and a rubber mallet worked
once the rub rail had been removed to the point of the bulge and then put
back in

Yes, ours drops out from time to time, especially after I've rubbed a piling
or another boat.  I can put it back in with a slap from the heal of my hand;
but, a rubber mallet should do the trick if the fit is tighter.

Hi Dick,

How far did it come out? Can you work it back in? Mine slips out in lengths
of 3-8 feet or so near the stern from time to time & I just work it back in.
I'm the one after yours!

Warren, you are of our vintage, do you have any insights?

Dick, please feel free to email me & we can compare - dcnolte at mac.com
