That looks like the settings I found. The autopilot works way better and I
even tried the auto tack feature yesterday. I love that instrument!

Autopilot settings

These are the settings that I took down from a prior discussion. Just
found them after looking for same to resolve crazy Ivan. Hope they help.
I'm still struggling to access control settings on the unit. A quiet day
with no sailing to distract the brain disect the manual instructions may
help. If only I had one.

can someone share with me (so I can share with my 'friend') the settings
that they have found provide good performance. I recall a forum discussion
about this several years ago, but I am not able to find the thread nor
locate the data in the technical archives. If the data is there, would you
provide me with a link? Alan hull 67 Holland MI.

David,

I was having the same problem so I plugged Raymarine ST4000+ into the search
engine on my phone and found a blog entitled "My autopilot steers like a
drunken sailor". It gave a list of settings to change in the menu which I
did and it solved the problem. I have been looking and can't find the blog
but the next time I'm on the boat I'll open the menu and send the settings
to you.
I should have written them down.

Thanks for the tips on the starter button. I will look into the wiring next
week when I'm on the boat again.

I have a problem with my Autohelm 4000+. When I press the Auto button, the
unit oversteers, oversteers more, oversteers more still (10-15 degree
increase with each swing). I stop it as it starts to get violent, so I don't
know if it would ever stop or not. The boat was moved from Maryland to
Massachusetts, so I ran the compass deviation correction and I tried turning
the Gain way down...no luck. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
