[C320-list] Lightening

during an overnight race our youngest crew member was on the wheel during a fantastic lightning display and asked to be relieved but was told by the rest of the crew, mostly seniors, that they didn't get to be their age by holding onto a metal wheel during a lightning storm.  Unfortunately since the autopilots may not hold course during a storm someone has to sit behind the wheel under the metal back stay.

Just curious, should you find yourself in the middle of a thunderstorm
where's the best place to be in case of a lightening strike, besides not on
the water.  Inside the cabin or on deck?
