Thanks for all the advice. I think I'll try the butyl tape The only problem with the tape is that it seems to come in life time supply sizes. I had a hatch rebedded with it at marina  and it has worked fine. Home Depot and Walmart have the 5200 but not the 4200.

For what its worth, I've picked up 4200 at Walmart before (and its less expensive).
