Haven't done this but read about it. You get a length of hose that when attached to the thru hull reaches above the water line (like the sinks drains do so they don't flood when the thru hull is open). Put one end above the water line and quickly remove the engine cooling hose from the thru hull and quickly attach the new hose with extra hose clamps in place. Tighten the clamps. You can then attach a hose to the end above the water line and force water out the thru hull while you wiggle the valve handle back and forth. If you try it and it works let me know. I have a sink drain that gets hung up occasionally but haven't had it not free up with gentle persuasion.

Subject: [C320-list] Clearing thru-hull obstruction
Upon last leaving the boat I was unable to close the cooling water thru-hull
fully. Got it about two thirds. It seems that something like a twig is
lodged there.
Does anyone have any experience clearing such a thing? I was thinking of
back-flushing with a hose; but, have to figure a way to do that without
forcing water through the system and filling the muffler.
Any ideas appreciated.
