[C320-list] yellow boot stripe

I’ve found that I can maintain the white waterline stripe very easily with an acid wash when the boat comes out of the water each fall. I use muriatic acid in a well diluted mix and brush it on the water line with a brush on handle. Wear gloves eye protection and old clothes, but it works with very little effort. And a gallon of acid will last for years.

When I apply VC-17 or petit SR-21, I mix it in a gallon jug and just pour a little at a time into the tray. That lets me shake it frequently, reduces evaporation in the pan, and leaves me enough for doing the pad areas on launch day. VC-17 will stay usable in the sealed jug for months.

Skippers, I just finished the bottom of Sheet Music. This year we had the
luxury of storing indoor heated, so there is no wind or direct sun to
evaporate the VC. I used 2 1/2 cans with a 6" foam roller and have plenty
to touch up the unpainted jackstand pad areas. Here in Sturgeon Bay, north
of Bob Sloat on Lake Michigan, we do get a slim buildup and that beautiful
white paint stripe gradually turns yellowish. The VC stands up well and I
believe that a full bottom refinish is only necessary every other year with
a touch up on leading edges in between. I agree that spending a few extra
dollars on the masking tape is well worth it. No bleed thru to clean up and
a sharp professional line. Don't buy the cheap junk.
