Well, the GFO came Thursday and I installed it this afternoon. I ordered ¼”
and this turns out to be what I had installed 6 years ago. As predicted by
others, the ¼” will only allow two rings to be installed – and that is just
the number I found when I removed the old packing. 

 

I won’t argue if America is still the land of the free but it certainly
remains the land of the less costly. The packing was 19$ with free delivery
to the continental US. Being Canadian the company deducted the value of the
free shipping from the cost of shipping north. That reduced the shipping
cost to 23$. Add to that the 22$ total owing for GST and UPS’ usurious
brokerage fee to bring the package across the border and the total to my
door was 64$. 

 

With the one ring left over from the last order I only needed to take one
length from the new order; leaving enough in reserve for two more rings. I
won’t have to order again for 12 years. By then annexation may have reduced
the cost.
