[C320-list] circuit breaker

Due to an electrical problem (maybe a lightening strike, can't be sure), my mechanic has suggested rerouting the starter so that it does not run to the breaker. He also suggests that the breaker is now weakened and should be replaced. She's a 2002, hull number 890. Over my head. Does this make sense, and if so, has anyone replaced the circuit breaker? Any suggestions as to types and manufacturers?
