[C320-list] 2nd Request - Action required - Respond interested or not - 2014 Rendezvous

Jeff - We have had 2 meetings in Marina del Rey and 1 in San Diego since I
have been a member. As far as boats go, there were not many at any of the
meetings with San Diego, I believe, getting the most. My memory is 5-6
boats in Marina del Rey and a few more in San Diego. All, despite low boat
attendance, were wonderful events with one even including a tour of the
Catalina factory hosted and guided by Gerry Douglas (but no free samples!).
And each West Coast meeting did have a significant number of East Coast
attendees! We have had 2 meetings on the Chesapeake (Baltimore and
Annapolis) that were much better attended (about 10-11 boats in Baltimore,
15-16 boats in Annapolis). We tried to have another meeting in Marina del
Rey about 3 years ago and when we finally pulled the plug on that one, I
think we had 1 boat committed. And of course last year in Michigan we could
not get sufficient interest to make the effort worthwhile (2 boats tops).
What Jerry and his crew have pulled off so early in the year is nothing
short of miraculous! My sense is that Solomons just might be the
best-attended Rendezvous yet - both in numbers of boats and attendees.

All this said, I would love to see someone step up and again try to organize
a West Coast Rendezvous - San Diego, Marina del Rey, San Francisco, Seattle,
etc. - whatever it takes. I know from watching my wife when she was Vice
Commodore and trying to organize a futile effort in Marina del Rey, there is
a fair amount of work to be done by volunteers to pull one of these off but
if successful, they are oh-so worthwhile for all attendees.

For those who do attend, make sure to bring a camera and a note pad as there
is no way you will remember all the great ideas that folks have done to
their boats that one will be wanting to do immediately upon returning home!

Jerry
Sounds like fun but for us folks in California, it's quite the journey.
However, I would really like to see if anyone wishes to do the same on the
West Coast, perhaps Catalina or San Diego. Open to anyones thoughts.

There are still a lot of no replies! We would appreciate if the members
that have not responded could do so within the next 4 days. Please take a
couple of minutes over the upcoming holiday weekend to let us know your
intentions. It is not a commitment, just if you are interested or not. So
far, 16 boats and 53 folks have expressed an interest!!! The 2014
Rendezvous is a definite go and we just need to fine tune attendance for
planning purposes. Please note there is some additional information below.
