I have a Honda EU1000. The neutral and grounding wires are not connected in
the generator and the polarity light comes on because of this.   This
should not  cause any safety issues because the neutral and hot
wires are floating.  To prevent this nuisance display  I made a connector
which joined the  neutral and grounding wires together.  Do not make this
connection in the wiring on the boat - that will cause  a safety issue.
