I fold a hand towel and put in a zip-loc bag, then stuff it in the anchor locker opening. Keeps birdies out and stays dry.

I have the same problem with the anchor well opening…I use a sponge.

I have an inner furling main and the boom has a fairly large opening at the
aft end. The birds really like to make a nest in the middle of the boom so
I keep a rag stuffed in the hole and the problem is solved. The problem is
that when I furl and unfurl the main, the lines grab the rag and pull it
inside the boom. I want to fabricate a cover of some sort to block the
opening but can't come up with a reasonable method. Has anyone done this
with success?
