relatively easy to remove and reinstall but here's a few things to note. be sure to diagram or photo your alternator leads to insure correct reconnection, you'll need a water pump gasket and a tube of permeated gasket maker goop (can't recall the actual name), and finally, the water pump has one bolt that installs from aft. I have an M 30 shop manual and amazingly it did not show this bolt! it's on the port side.

> I bought one from Trans Atlantic Diesel (part #145016474) I had a bad thermostate and had to pull the pump to replace it and figured I might as well do both while I was at it. It was relatively striaght forward job until 3 of the bolts broke off in the block but with several applications of heat and PB blaser I was able to get them out. Lesson learned is that you might want to order a new set of retaining bolts while our at it unless you feel lucky.

> While I didn't "replace" the pump, I did remove it, have it rebuilt, and reinstalled it.? It is very easy to remove and reinstall.? If the pump is not too far gone, you might try a rebuild instead, it should be much cheaper.?While I had mine rebuilt locally in Long Beach, Ca., Warren Updike gave me some good info and has had his rebuilt at "Depco Pump" - http://www.depcopump.com/.? Warren had very good results from them & he?can probably give you even more info - he is VERY helpful.?
