Thanks for the help
Warren and Don
Think I will order new and send in old to have rebuilt and then have a spare as I use my boat weekly.

Gee, thanks for the plug, Don.
I was thinking I could rebuild the pump myself with new parts. I got it
mostly apart and realized I didn't know as much as I thought about pumps.
Also, I didn't have a proper arbor for pressing on the new bearings. When I
thought the shaft was too worn, I called Depco pumps. Two minutes on the
phone convinced me that the way to go was to send them the pump and start a
different project.
It was 2011, the parts were $220 and the labor was about $48 as I remember
and with shipping the total was $282. Seem like a lot? Price a new one.
The pump came back with new screws and painted like a new pump. The leak was
gone and has worked like a charm since. I highly recommend Depco Pump.

Michael,

While I didn't "replace" the pump, I did remove it, have it rebuilt, and
reinstalled it.  It is very easy to remove and reinstall.  If the pump is
not too far gone, you might try a rebuild instead, it should be much
cheaper. While I had mine rebuilt locally in Long Beach, Ca., Warren Updike
gave me some good info and has had his rebuilt at "Depco Pump" -
http://www.depcopump.com/.  Warren had very good results from them & he can
probably give you even more info - he is VERY helpful.

Regards,

Don, #53

Had anyone replaced their raw water pump on the older Perkins 30. Where did
you find one and was it easy.
Thanks
