[C320-list] Red cables to main and charger

Mark,

I When installing my starter battery, I ended up paralleling my two main 4D batteries into battery bank 1 and then connected my starter battery into battery bank 2. I followed advice from Stu Jackson in the C34 forums. I located my starter battery forward of the main battery banks on a custom wood glassed in shelf like you are likely doing.

I made up additional large sized battery cables using the cable crimping device setup at West Marine. Pretty easy to do and not too costly. I found that the battery cables that run under the cabin floor to the charger and my 12v panel were cut to the lengths needed without much excess. Therefore, I needed to make up my own additional cables t lengthen my existing cables to make this all work within my existing battery compartment under he starboard settee. I charge my start battery with a Xantrex Echo Charger off of the main battery bank and keep my charge charging the main battery bank only. I also installed a LinkPro battery monitor as well. Photos of my installation are on our C320IA website under Owners Photos for my boat.

So, in my experience, I wasn't able to "stretch" the exiting cables to fit my starter battery installation. I just made up new cable extensions for paralleling by existing batteries and to add my new start battery. My system works great.

Good luck!

Dave
