[C320-list] Hood furling system problem

I need some help here. My furling system keeps getting twisted at the top where it's attached the the jib halyard. When we brought it down we noticed the swivel part that attaches to the jib has about a 1/4" (6cm) gap all the way around. It seems like it has way to much play in it. Is it possible there was a sleeve on there that may have fallen out. Or perhaps the previous owner put on one too big for the width of the system?
