FYI:
Mark Yeager's article is here:

Still a pretty decent reference article for everyone to read.

Subject: Re: [C320-list] Rigging issue

Ted-On my hull 894 (2002) when launched on the second season I had the same
problem. When the boat was commissioned new the previous season the dealer
tightened the forestay turn buckle under the furler after the rig and
backstays were connected. The forestay was rock hard then and when
launching and stepping the mast for season 2 the back stays could not be
connected. Since I am in the midwest where the mast comes down every season
and to eliminate having to used the main halyard to help connect the
backstays, the dealer who was around at launch graciously bought 2 short
shackles to help with the install which went fine. You can check out the
Schafer owners manual on how to lengthen the forestay so you don’t need the
shackles on the back stays the next go round. After a few seasons I
lengthened the forestay and eliminated the shackles. The forestay was
lengthened to give a loose forestay and backstay adjusters were installed to
control forestay sag for differing wind conditions.

On the latter check out Quantum Sail’s Yeager article on the C320 forestay
hardness and backstay adjuster selection which should be on our C320 site
somewhere in the archives. It may even have been in Mainsheet. It was at
least 5 or more years ago and pretty good.
