Thanks much. I got one. I think the Rocna website does recommend the 15Kg if you by displacement.

Hi Greg,
I upgraded Pleiades' anchor to a 33lb Rocna a few years back, which is one size larger then the recommended size for a 320 on the Rocna web site. I believe that you should have the biggest anchor your back can haul into the Bow Chock. :) The original anchor that came with her when I bought her was a Danforth and for the first few years that we were cruising the Chesapeake, we had many a calamity and sleepless night on anchor when the wind piped up in thunder squalls and the anchor dragged. Most of the time you're anchoring in mud in the Chesapeake.
I'm completely satisfied with the Rocna, and here's why. Last year in the spring, My wife and I, and our two teenage daughters, were anchored out in late May, in soft Chesapeake Bay mud when the weather turned really nasty. Right around dusk, it got really dark and stormy (no relation to the drink!) There were 6 sailboats anchored about 70 yards apart in a line tucked up as close as we dared to the south shore of the Worton Creek entrance. Rain was thick and heavy, blowing sideways primarily out of the South. I had paid out the anchor line to a scope of about 10-11, when things when from bad to unbelievable! The wind and rain piped up and shifted to SE; Visibility got so bad that I could not see the boats anchored around us. Then there was a freight train sound, and Pleiades lay hard over on her beam for 10-15 seconds! After swinging starboard, she stood up for a few seconds and then lay over on her Port beam for 10 seconds! A tornado had just passed over us! The top of the Jenny had shook loose of the furler in the mayhem and flogged about two feet of sail to shreds!
Needless to say, I was not paying attention to the anemometer during the calamity, but the guys on the boat anchored next to us said they saw 60+ knots!
The end of this story is that the Rocna dug deep deep into the soft mud and I was thankful for the upgrade. We dragged about 10 yards or so. I'm convinced that the Rocna will hold in sand and mud, but I have no experience in rocks or seaweed.
One other lesson I learned from this experience: Don't be lazy about getting a good tight wrap on the Jenny! ya never know when it'll blow!

If not Rocna, is there general consensus on size: 10kg (22lbs) versus 15kg (35lbs).?

Thanks,

PO had an even larger plow so I guess he had replaced the bail because the 15 kg Rocna just slips through it and snugs down on the roller. We added a piece of rubberized, adhesive backed tape (Vycor tape) on the starboard hull where the tip of the Rocna occasionally contacts the hull during rocking.
