[C320-list] Additional ignition keys or replacement ignition switch

Just to close this loop, Tru Value in Annapolis had two Suzuki key blanks
YH-38 left on the rack that appear to work. The saleswoman cut the first
blank not to her liking, so she had her boss cut the second blank since that
was the last one. The key works but not without jiggling around a bit and
while it turns to the right with a bit of stiffness, at least it turns on
the engine. However, it won't turn back all the way left to OFF with mild
jiggling, so I stopped for fear of damaging the actual ignition switch and
use the original key to get to OFF. I'll put some powdered graphite on the
new key to see if that helps. To show you how difficult it was to find this
blank, the Tru Value in Deale did not even have a space for that key blank
on their rack. So I have one extra key that sort of works.

Thanks to all for your suggestions.

Wow. Baldwin Lock and Key in Annapolis had nothing and neither did Ace
Hardware. I will try True Value in Deale. Thanks, Rollie!!

I had a new key for Perkins 1995 #182 made at a True Value hardware store in
Feb. It was just like getting any other key made = unremarkable.

Additional ignition keys or replacement ignition
 	switch </div><div>
</div>So I gather that no one with a boat of my vintage (1993) has desired
or found replacement key blanks or replaced their ignition switch that has a
preheat position with an identical switch? The marine tech folks are
suggesting that if I can't find a 4-wire switch like the original that came
with my Seaward panel, that I use the 3-wire switch I purchased from Dennis
Igarashi (for which he gave me four keys, not just two, what a guy!) and add
a separate button for the preheat element.

I started down this road because all I wanted was an extra key in case
something happened to the one and only key I have. Not being able to find
that, I'm now trying to figure out buying a new ignition switch that
operates like the existing one, but that doesn't seem possible either. As
with all boat things, the simplest things turn out to be the most
complicated, LOL!

I always leave the key in ignition. That way I know where it is. Also at
anchor if away from the boat I would appreciate someone saving the boat if
it lifted anchor (never happened).
