[C320-list] Cabin wood , cabin sole.

Hi Louis,

Most C320s have teak and holly cabin sole. However some use an alternative
pattern of dark narrow strips and a wider lighter wood.

It may still be teak and holly with the light/dark reversed, or it could be
something like maple for the lighter strips. There are pictures of C320s on
the website that have this alternative floor in Warren's "War de Mar" #62
photo album.

As for stripping, the first thing I would do is to verify what kind of clear
finish you need to strip off. I think it's probably a "Target Coatings"
product. It might be useful to call Target and ask them the best way to
strip off their finish. Note that the target coating may or may not have
been applied with the "cross linker" that causes the sealant to become much
more durable. As I understand, it's quite resistant to most chemicals, so
that's why I recommend a quick call to their tech department.

That's what I will be doing when I refinish our cabin sole next year. I'll
be using the target coatings product because it is water based and is by far
the easiest finish to use that I've ever applied to a wood product. No need
to use a spray gun to get a spray booth like finish. Just a bit of care and
a quality brush.

I have a vintage 1995 Cat 320, with an unusual cabin sole. It appears to be
light wood with dark spacers. (I do know this is a veneer.) I want to strip
the sole and stain it darker. What filler should I use?
Thanks in advance.
