[C320-list] Standing Rigging-Winter Layup

Interesting topic. Some yards require masts to be stepped. Some don't. Charges for step/unstopping seem to vary greatly by region/area. The base charge for a round trip at our marina is $500 plus. The plus is $100 for roller furling, and other charges for special conditions. I've only done that once in 11 years. I believe I've heard of some yards that charge about half that. Anyone want to enlighten us?

A very timely question.
Thanks to all who chime-in.
I intend to haul and store with mast up this winter.
Price wise it turns out to be the same - my yard charges for mast
stepping/unstepping+mast storage or extra $$ for winter storage with mast
up.
Storing with the mast up saves quite bit of work...
I intent to loosen up the rig a bit so the static load is lowered, but not
to the point that any dynamic loads during some stronger winds throughout
the winter would make the rig to appear slack.
I am not an expert on the subject, just my gut feeling about this.
