With the cap off, rev the engine to max rpm's several times & this should purge the air from the system.

Jim - This is very common.  Open the relief cap on the top of the engine,
pour fluid in until you can see it, leave the cap off, and run the engine
again for a few minutes.  Then replace the cap, assuming the fluid level
remained constant, and run the engine again.  That should resolve the
problem but if not, repeat until it does.  You just need to purge the air
out of the hot water hoses.

Replaced water heater and now have overheating engine problem  Engine how to
190 and alarms. Infrared temp confirms 190.  Suspect an air lock but how do
you get it air free?  I also didn't pay attention to how I hooked up the new
hoses but can't see that there should be a directional flow through heater.
It does look goof however
