Stay away from Peter H.
Just had the survey done by him in July.
He charged $100 extra to drive to Baltimore, and when I asked some questions about the boat he became irritated.
Total cost $1, 000 for 3 hours survey + the attitude.
Not really happy with his service.

Peter Hartoft of Annapolis is fantastic! He and his business partner
Gale are both great surveyors. Peter did my survey in 2012 and I was
very impressed with him. He may charge for the drive up to HDG, but he's
worth it.

Allan

We bought Wonky Dog at Tidewater Marina.  We still keep her in a slip there for now.

After spending a few days reading up on reliable surveyors in the
Northeast we ended up opting not to go with a local surveyor.   We used
Jonathan Sands out of Fort Lauderdale.   It was a tad more expensive to go
that route, but he was fantastic.  I would be happy to share with you his report on our boat if you want to see a sampling of his work.

Cheers

It doesn't appear that he is accredited by either SAMS or NAMS.

To the group,

Some of you may remember when our C 30 got wrecked in Hurricane Sandy. Some of you bought items I sold such as sails, prop and a few other items. I hope they served you well.
Well now, after 4 years in our 1999 C 320, we have to decided to sell her. I?m posting this here first because I noticed the thread about ?moving up?. This boat is in excellent condition with many new items and everything works. She has a folding wheel, full suite of instruments and chart plotter, new cockpit cushions, dodger (new isinglass), bimini with connector, newer VHF radio with built in GPS, Zarcor doors, windless, hot & cold pressure water (new pump), refrigerator, air conditioning, electric toilet and many other features. We are also including our 8? dingy with a 2.5 hp engine. Our dock box is also included.
Because I have not yet listed her with a broker I would be willing to sell her at a reduced price.
She is currently in her slip at the Whiskey Island Marina in Cleveland, Ohio.
If you?re interested or if you know anyone who might be interested you can contact me directly and I can send out pictures and more specs etc.

Oh!   Rats!!

I always hoped that you would bring her to Florida and I could help you find the perfect home to keep her at the dock.

What is your new life plan?

Allan,
Our boat was in Edgewater Marina when we purchased her. We had numerous recommendations for, and ultimately used, Bob Turner at Kelsey and Turner Marine Surveys. Very happy with his survey.

Thanks Doug.

I have resealed the leaky sender unit after first time I filled up to the
top - it was a while back.
It was pretty obvious.

Yes, Gale was terrific. When I last spoke to her (years ago admittedly)
she was preparing to solo across the Atlantic in the Mini-Transat race.
Quite a person.

Battery switch to off. All cables disconnected at batteries.

This morning I clean all the connections and battery cables.

Charged the batteries last night.

Moved the levers to decompress.

Checked the oil and it is not milky. Added half a pint. To top if off.

Reconnected the cables.

Help with his one: : Now you will not believe it. I was real careful and connected the cables back on the same as before.

Now when I turned the battery switch to number one the engine started. Key was not even turned on.

Then ran out to the helm to stop it and it would not stop. Turned the battery switch to off and the engine stopped .

What could I have done ! Or what is wrong ?

Stuck or shorted start button?  If stuck down part way you may get less voltage to the starter that could have been partially fixed by clean connections. That also might have kept the starter turning over to keep the engine running. A diesel should run even with no juice however. Have no idea how it kept running with the fuel shut off pulled. Just a wild guess.

Ok disconnected start button and it still started by turning battery switch to number 1

Then disconnected key switch and it still started

Next thought?

Key switch broke when taking it out. Where can I get a new one ?

if you are talking about the curved fiberglass molding, you can cut away an opening as this is covered by the wood strip.? this is the only way to access any of the stanchion bolts

That's what I figured...   Thanks for the replies Pat & Ken!   Next
project is installing a new VHF with RAM mic.  I just bought a Standard
Horizon GX2200 Matrix VHF with GPS/DSC/AIS and the RAM3+ Mic.  Pretty
good deal from The GPS Store.com with a $40 mail-in rebate.  Should be
interesting to see how easy/difficult it will be to run the new 24'
cable to the helm!
