You guys have given me very helpful information. I will summarize all of the comments and make my decision. At least now I am much more well informed. In general it sounds as though north is $1000 more than anyone else. I like the thought of buy American.

Thanks again and keep the comments coming.

I would not recommend FX Sails. I purchased a 135 from them a little over 3 years ago. After one year I noticed problems with the uv cover. I spent the next 2 years trying to speak to someone but with no success. They wouldn't return phone calls, emails, etc.

Thanks Doug! We are only familiar with Annapolis downtown and since we are new to the area, we want to be within walking distance of activity when we are at dock; just for the remainder of the season until we get the lay of the land.? Hence leaning towards Spa Creek or Back Creek for a month or two.? After that, we will look into other areas where we can go to from DC area back and forth.?

Over the years, while still working, we have been lucky to be able to carve out time to cruise to Boston, to Nantucket, to Block Is. etc. It was a rare occasion to run into another 320.? I have a feeling it will be just the opposite in Chesapeake and I look forward to running into fellow 320s!

Hello Onat,

Where will your home be located - or are you liveaboards? Those of us
who are locals may have some suggestions that may be near to your home.

You'll LOVE sailing on the Chesapeake Bay! Annapolis is definitely the
place to be, especially for sailors. However, keep in mind that it is
one of the MOST expensive places on the Chesapeake because of that very
reason. I do not have a specific recommendation because I keep my boat
about 20 miles north of Annapolis.

In addition to downtown Annapolis locations, also consider marinas on
South River, which is just a 10 minute drive from DownTown and may be
more reasonably priced.

The only marina I've had any experience with in Annapolis is Bert
Jabin's (where my boat was when I bought her) and they are top notch.
The only down side to Jabins is that it is not in Downtown Annapolis,
however, you can get over there via the water taxi if you want. Plenty
of services all in house and you can be out on the bay in minutes.

I bought a new 155 from Chuck O'Malley at Chesapeake sailmakers Annapolis at the boat show last fall.A friend of mine who went with me to the show also bought a 150 for his Cal 31. My sail is a miter cut and his is a crosscut. Both sails turned out real nice. Chuck's prices were on par with the other sailmakers at the show.I bought sails from Chuck for my last boat a ?Catalina 27 they were very good sail with excellent performance. He makes very good sails and stands behind them.

Art,
I concur w Guy regarding Chuck O'Malley and his crew at chesapeake sail makers.? When I bought an asymmetrical from him, he was very customer oriented and priced fairly.? He even traveled to Solomon's from Annapolis to do a sea trial to demonstrate how to rig and use the sail.

Thanks! I did hear about Port Annapolis Marina as well.? I hear that one could take water taxi back and forth, however apparently water taxi has 4 person minimum to take you there.? I was told one could take a dinghy across to Eastport side and walk across.? I will look into Jabins Boatyard. - Onat

In Annapolis itself I like Port Annapolis Marina, and Jabins Boatyard,
both on Back Creek. But there are lots of good options, none
inexpensive. The Catalina 320 rendezvous was at Port Annapolis a few
years ago, and I was sufficiently impressed that we now take our boat
there for winter haulout and service, even though other marinas are
closer to our mooring on the Magothy.

Art:

Where I live there is no local sail maker. First sail I bought was for the
previous boat, and I dealt with an enterprise several hours away which took
orders to be manufactured offshore. I did careful measurements, was sure of
the accuracy, and ordered a main and cover. The main had to be recut by the
vendor as it proved too long and the cover was too small and the vendor made
another.

For Bear I went to the local-to-my-area representative of Doyle Sails. He
too takes the order and the sail is made elsewhere, but in Canada. The local
rep comes to your boat and discusses your wants/needs, explains the options
available and recommends based on your circumstance and his experience. He
then measures for the sail and places the order. When the sail arrives he
brings it to the boat and rigs it with you.

My first sail was a 135%. A couple of years later I added a new main with
StackPac. The process was the same for both. In the Great White North boats
are hauled and masts come down for the endless winters. That next spring I
could not recall the details for setting up the StackPac. I called the local
Doyle rep and he arrived at the boat and aided in the reinstall, without
charge (I then took photos). Both sails were high quality Dacron and both
radial cut. I race (poorly), and this appeared to be the best balance of
performance, longevity, and price for my budget. And everything fit first
time.

This is not an endorsement for Doyle Sails. It is a recommendation that you
purchase as locally as your budget will allow. Your money boosts an economy
closer to home for the benefit of all. You also benefit more directly by
both increasing the chances that your hard earned money spent will yield
what you really want, that it will fit first time, and that you will have
post-purchase product support.

Just sayin';

The breaker for our hot water heater keeps blowing. Below the sink is a big grey metal box that is the heater but I have no idea how to approach this problem? When I reset breaker, it will heat water for about 30-60 sec before switching off again. Water is hot if running engine. Any ideas on how to trouble shoot this? Time to replace? It's original ( I believe) on our 1996 C320

Thanks

I just realized if I pick the Chesapeake sail makers then I would have to make a trip the the bay and visit Annapolis. My favorite port on the bay. I don't need much of an excuse to go there. Lol

I have bought and installed a 16x11RH 2blade folding propellor on
Luffin Life. I have significant vibration issues between 1300 and
1800RPM; lower and higher RPMs are not an issue; no vibrations at all
in reverse.. Anyone had a similar experience? FLEX O FOLD assures me
that the props leave the factory with blades perfectly balanced and
same weights. I believe this to be true as I'd get vibration in reverse
if that was the problem. The cutless bearing was determined to be
serviceable prior to installation and all 4 engine mounts have been
inspected and found to be sound. I've gone below to inspect during a
vibration event and the engine, tranny and prop shaft are not
vibrating, the noise and vibrations are coming from outside the boat in
the prop area. I like how the prop works and have noticed increased
boat speed in low winds, which I expected. thoughts?
