[C320-list] alternator question

Hi art,
The battery charger is new.  It is a West Marine Pro charger 2 bank.  I always disconnect the shore power before starting the engine BUT I have turned the battery selector on with the battery charger plugged in. Would that give me feed back to blow the diodes?
To answer the starter motor  question.  The B+ from the alternator goes to the hot side of the starter solenoid.  It is where the heavy hot wire from the DC panel switch bolts.
